With the skiing and snowboarding season almost over, many people will probably head out to the hills for some final runs. Some might even take on a terrain park. A terrain park is an outdoor area where skiers and snowboarders can perform tricks, and a recent study examined injury trends at these outdoor areas. In the study, the authors reported that day-pass and season pass holders represented a higher proportion of injuries at the terrain parks than other ticket holders. Similarly, day-pass holders suffered injuries in their first two runs at terrain parks more often than season-pass holders. The authors mentioned factors, such as inexperience with the terrain park, that might explain the differences seen in the injury trends among ticket holders.
