A recent study explored the injury rates among competitive divers. The study found that competitive divers suffer many injuries to the upper body, particularly the neck and spine. A common cause, the researchers reported, was overuse. While the exact nature of injury rates in competitive diving was not uncovered in the study, the researchers suspect that the injury rates are higher than reported due to poor injury surveillance in diving.
